Zidane picks Pep’s brain

Real Madrid Castilla boss Zinedine Zidane has travelled to Germany to study Pep Guardiola’s coaching methods at Bayern Munich.

According to AS, the Frenchman is looking to expand his coaching knowledge and has been joined by two former national teammates in Claude Makalele and Willy Sagnol, the latter a former Bayern player and current Coach of Girondins Bordeaux.

The trio are looking to obtain their UEFA Pro Level 3 licence alongside other former players including Claude le Roy, Diomede and Guy Lacombe, who are also part of the group.

It is not the first time Zidane has gone abroad to cast his eye over other coach’s training sessions, having visited Marseille last December as a guest of Marcelo Bielsa.

While in Munich, his assistants David Bettoni and Santi Sanchez will hold the fort at Castilla, who are having a poor season and have just suffered a fourth straight defeat and dropped to seventh in Segunda B Group II.
