Jemez happy with Rayo hunger

Rayo Vallecano boss Paco Jemez was pleased with the hunger his players showed against Malaga at the weekend.

Gael Kakuta’s first-half header claimed all three points for the Madrid club in a tetchy encounter punctuated by numerous fouls, but Jemez claimed he was satisfied with his team’s display.

“We showed a lot of hunger and enthusiasm and want to go as high as possible,” he told a Press conference.

“We are in a situation where we have no worries. The next step is to overtake Athletic Bilbao, who are eighth, and this team continues to get better.

“We are now more confident and give less away, so ultimately all our hard work is now beginning to pay off.

“Not committing as many errors allows us to beat teams like Malaga, who are very strong going forward, but they didn’t pose us many threats.

“We haven’t lost our freshness and I’m happy to have beaten them,” he enthused.
