Moyes in swipe at Premier League

Real Sociedad boss David Moyes has had a dig at the Premier League, saying it is possibly the worst it has been for a while.

With no English clubs left in either the Champions League or Europa League this season, the former Everton and Manchester United manager told Radio Five Live that maybe at the moment the competition is over-hyped.

“With all this record spending maybe it’s not the right way to go about things,” explained the Scot.

“Of course, the top clubs in Spain spend a lot of money but the other teams can’t. Atletico Madrid have had financial difficulties over the years but they have still got to finals. “Valencia, Villarreal have also got quite far in the Europa League so perhaps we do go over the top about our League. There are others that are certainly now comparable.

“Not too long ago we were looked at as probably having the best sides, but things change, and this year is probably the poorest Premier League I’ve seen in a long while,” he insisted.
