Enrique: Barca will attack City

Luis Enrique has asserted that Barcelona will attack Manchester City ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League last-16 second leg at Camp Nou.

The Catalans lead the tie 2-1 from the first leg in England but crucially have two away goals to their advantage, yet the Coach is still wary of a possible backlash from their opponents in light of their recent bad press.

“Our objective is to win [on Wednesday]. Speculating is very dangerous,” he said at a Press conference.

“There’s only one ball, and we intend to have it for as long as possible. [Keeping possession] will be key to [winning] the game.

“There’s only one match for us [Barca-City], I don’t care about the others. We’ll try to enjoy [this match] and be competitive both [on Wednesday] and Sunday.

“You can only qualify [for the knockout stages] with good performances. They know us, we know ourselves and they know [what needs to be done].

“I don’t see a tired City but one with a chance to reach the quarter-finals. I repeat, we don’t trust them.

“It’s difficult to compare [Sergio Busquets] with [Javier] Mascherano, but [Mascherano] always gives a very high level of performance.

“[On the topic of optional training], if I give my players a day off, regardless of whoever wants to stay at home or still wants to come in, it doesn’t mean that they are any more or less committed.

“If I took the day off, I’d still be committed. At the end of the day, the players can decide what they want to do for themselves.

“The only involvement we want to see from the players is what they do in training. The fans want to see [the same involvement] on the pitch.”
