Chelsea left-back Filipe Luis could be set for a dramatic return to Atletico Madrid this summer.
The 29-year-old joined the Londoners from Los Rojiblancos for a reported €20m at the start of this season but has struggled to displace Cesar Azpilicueta in Jose Mourinho’s starting line-up, leading to reports in the British Press he could be on his way back to the Spanish capital.
Despite making 22 appearances for the Blues this term, Luis has been overlooked for most of the biggest games and has racked up just 11 Premier League starts, while suggestions he is unhappy in England have also surfaced.
As a result, Atleti boss Diego Simeone is exploring the possibility of bringing him back to La Liga and it is understood any agreement will rest on the whether or not the Brazilian would welcome a return to the Vicente Calderon.
