Gracia ‘satisfied’ with Malaga

Malaga boss Javi Gracia declared himself satisfied with his team’s display in the 2-0 home defeat of struggling Cordoba.

Goals from Juanmi and substitute Nordin Amrabat proved enough to see off La Primera’s bottom club and Gracia was full of praise for his players after last week’s poor showing in the 1-0 defeat to Granada.

“We had some negative feelings from the last game but today we were at the level I expect us to be,” he told reporters.

“The fans were very happy at the end and hopefully we can give them a lot of games like this in the future.

“We knew Cordoba were in need of points and were looking for a bit of good fortune after the bad luck they had in their last home game.

“They made it very difficult and it’s hard to overcome teams that set out to defend as they did, although they had the chances to score at least a goal.

“All the same, we should have scored more ourselves. We showed more initiative and deserved the victory because even the best teams in the world struggle to overcome a packed defence.”
