Rafinha: Eibar win very important

Rafinha believes Barcelona’s 2-0 victory over Eibar in La Liga on Saturday will prove crucial in their bid to be crowned champions this season.

The Brazilian midfielder completed 70 minutes of La Blaugrana’s win at Ipurua, before being replaced by his ‘teacher’ Xavi Hernandez, who made his 750th appearance for the club.

“We played at our own pace and went onto take the three points,” he said after the game.

“The squad are prepared for every game. We knew the game was very important.

“I didn’t see everything [in the build-up to Lionel Messi’s penalty], only that when he went to kick the ball inside the box, [the Eibar defender] played [the ball] with his hand.

“I feel very well on the pitch. I hope to fulfil [whatever is asked of me] whenever I play.

“We have a very important game against [Manchester] City [before the Clasico].

“[Xavi Hernandez] is a teacher, his name says it all. For me, he’s an idol and a great example on the pitch.”
