Camacho admits Napoli interest

Malaga midfielder Ignacio ‘Nacho’ Camacho has admitted there was interest in him from Napoli during the January transfer window.

The 24-year-old has been in stunning form for Los Blanquiazules this season and was called up to Vicente del Bosque’s Spain squad for the fixtures against Belarus and Germany last November.

As a result he has been linked with a host of top clubs, although the Italians are the only ones to have made a firm offer for his services.

“There was an offer from Napoli but the club decided it was not the right time to sell me,” Camacho told the Area Malaguista programme.

“I agreed with that and I’ve always said that if I do leave then I won’t do it by the back door. The club has given me a lot and vice versa, while there is a mutual respect, and if I had to go then it would all be made very easy.”

Camacho says that whatever happens regarding his future it will have to be to the benefit of both parties.

“What’s spoken about outside the dressing room or in the Press is part of football but I’m relaxed about things. I live for the present and whatever is going to happen will happen.

“However, it’s got to be good for everyone and the only thing I’m thinking of right now is giving my best for Malaga, as I’ve always done.

“The reality is that I’ve got a four-year contract here and I don’t need to think too far into the future,” he explained.
