Sevilla offers Copa del Rey venues

The city of Sevilla has offered its three major venues as a solution to where the Copa del Rey final should be played.

The Andalusian Football Federation has yet to confirm it officially, but AS reports that off the record they have stated there would be no problem in staging the final between Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao.

The 60,000-capacity Olimpico de La Cartuja held the Copa del Rey finals between Valencia and Atletico Madrid in 1999 and the Celta Vigo-Real Zaragoza final in 2001.

They are also able to call upon the Benito Villamarin, home of Real Betis, which holds 55,000 spectators, and Sevilla’s 45,500-capacity Sanchez Pizjuan.

The city will play host to this month’s Euro 2016 qualifier between Spain and Ukraine. The game was originally scheduled to take place at the Benito Villamarin but will now be at the Sanchez Pizjuan after logistical problems during Holy Week forced it to be switched.
