Franco: ‘Goals counted for Getafe’

Getafe boss Pablo Franco said it was goals that counted for his team in Monday’s 2-1 win at Cordoba ‘and not justice’.

The Madrid side won thanks to two goals in the final five minutes, Fede Vico putting the ball past his own goalkeeper and then Juan Rodriguez heading home in stoppage time after Florin Andone had given the Andalusians the lead.

It was Franco’s first victory after taking over from Quique Sanchez Flores at the end of February and he admitted it was the result that ultimately counted.

“It’s true that Cordoba dominated and had more chances but with this result we’ve put some distance between ourselves and a direct rival,” he told reporters post-match.

“It’s always difficult to assess what is justice in football but it’s goals that count and I’ll enjoy this as it’s always easier to do so after a win.

“I don’t know if I’ll continue to be in charge, that’s up to the club and what will be will be, but right now I’m savouring this moment,” he declared.
