Real Madrid track Chelsea defender

Real Madrid are monitoring Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic’s situation at Stamford Bridge, according to the Daily Mail.

The Londoners are yet to make the 31-year-old a new contract offer and if it is not forthcoming Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti may return to his former club with a bid for the player.

The Serbian has been in superb form for the Blues this season and boss Jose Mourinho has asked the club to sort out a new deal.

Although it is understood that Chelsea intend to make Ivanovic an offer, it is unlikely it will be for more than 12 months with the option of another year.

However, any negotiations will not take place until the summer, while the player is aware he can wait until next January and talk to any interested clubs before his current agreement expires in June next year.

The Spanish giants are not the only club wanting to secure the right-back’s signature, with Paris Saint-Germain also rumoured to be interested.
