Marcelo ends Brazil exile

Real Madrid left-back Marcelo has ended his Brazil exile under Carlos Dunga after being called up for matches against France and Chile this month.

The 26-year-old had yet to feature under the returning Coach, with his last Selecao appearances coming at the World Cup last summer.

He also came in from criticism from the former Fiorentina midfielder, who suggested he did not show enough of an interest in defending.

Nonetheless, Dunga has decided to include Marcelo in his latest squad following his improved form with Madrid since the country’s last games against Turkey and Austria last November.

Barcelona attacker Neymar, Atletico Madrid centre-back Joao Miranda and Valencia goalkeeper Diego are the other representatives from La Liga, although Dani Alves continues to be overlooked.

Elsewhere, former Madrid star Robinho has earned a recall, while ex-Atleti full-back Filipe Luis and Porto’s right-sider Danilo – heavily linked with Los Blancos in recent weeks – keep their places.

Brazil squad in full: Diego Alves, Marcelo Grohe, Jefferson; Marquinhos, Thiago Silva, Miranda, Filipe Luis, David Luiz, Marcelo, Danilo, Fabinho; Elias, Fernandinho, Luiz Gustavo, Roberto Firmino, Oscar, Willian, Coutinho, Douglas Costa; Robinho, Neymar, Diego Tardelli
