Atleti to visit Far East

Atletico Madrid have announced plans to play three friendly games in the Far East this summer.

Chief executive Miguel Angel Gil Marin is visiting China this week and will meet representatives from the Dalian Wanda Group, whose owner Wang Jianlin bought 20 per cent of Atleti shares in January, to finalise plans.

One of the games is scheduled to take place in Shanghai, while the other venues and opposition are still to be decided, although the confirmed dates for the matches are July 28, August 1 and 4.

Gil Marin will also take advantage to review the matter of bringing Chinese talent to the club as part of their football development, with the quantity of players forming part of Atleti’s youth system due to increase from 30 to 61.

In addition, he is set to stop off in India on the way to China to meet directors of Atletico Calcutta, which is a franchise of the Spanish club and were recently crowned champions of the Indian Super League.
