Michel: ‘I’d get Morata back’

Former Real Madrid midfielder Michel says if he was Real Madrid President Florentino Perez he would bring striker Alvaro Morata back from Juventus.

The 22-year-old joined the Serie A giants from Madrid in July last year for a reported fee of €20m, although Los Blancos have an option to take him back to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Meanwhile, he has been receiving rave reviews in Italy, while his performance in Juve’s Champions League game with Borussia Dortmund has since proved a talking point.

“He is a great lad and has been doing some magnificent things,” maintained Michel in an interview with GianlucaDiMarzio.com.

“He was not afraid to leave Real Madrid to take on a challenge as ambitious and demanding as playing for Juventus. He’s still playing at a top level and that makes me proud.

“Morata started this year as understudy to Fernando Llorente but now he’s on the same level. He made the difference against Borussia and I hope he goes on to be a success.

“If I were Florentino Perez and the decision was up to me I’d get him back for good.”

Michel, who has coached Rayo Vallecano, Getafe, Sevilla and Olympiacos since retiring as a player, also believes Juventus have another star who would fit in perfectly at Real Madrid.

“I’d buy Paul Pogba as well. He combines great quality with modern physical power. He’s spectacular.”
