Laporta enraged at Barca trial

Former Barcelona President Joan Laporta has refused to speak Spanish in the judicial trial between Barcelona and MCM.

The trial concerns an alleged breach of contract between MCM and Barca but was put on hold after Laporta asked the court to be allowed to give his declarations in Catalan.

The judge then decided to hire an interpreter and suspend the trial until Tuesday, a decision which enraged Laporta.

“My right is to speak in the language of my country but I respect the Spanish language. I arrived here at 9am and waited until almost three in the afternoon,” he is quoted as saying by AS.

Laporta went on to advise the judge that “on Thursday I am travelling and don’t know if I can return” before promising that “I will speak very slowly so an intelligent person can understand me”.
