Manchester United are keeping an eye on Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez ahead of this summer’s transfer market.
Saul has impressed at the Vicente Calderon this season after a loan spell at Rayo Vallecano last term, while The Sun reports that United sent scout Jim Lawlor to run the rule over the 24-year-old in the recent Champions League game against Bayer Leverkusen.
The Elche-born player was forced to come off injured at half-time against the Germans, although it is claimed that United are still intent on making a bid to bring him to Old Trafford before the start of next season.
The player is understood to have recently signed with Portuguese super-agent Jorge Mendes, who has strong ties to the Reds, and the Premier League giants could look at triggering the release clause in his contract, thought to be around the €20m mark.
