Emery: ‘Sevilla should have won’

Sevilla boss Unai Emery believed his team did more than enough to have beaten Atletico Madrid on Sunday.

A hard-fought game between La Liga’s third and fifth-placed teams ended goalless at the Sanchez Pizjuan, yet Emery felt his side should have taken all three points.

“We played to win from the first minute until the last and I can’t be happy at not having won,” he told a Press conference.

“Even so, I’m satisfied with my players because we were up against an opponent who make few mistakes.

“We didn’t create a lot of chances but those we did were clear ones, although we lacked decisiveness around their box, where they are very strong.

“However, we managed to keep a clean sheet in front of our own fans and collectively we played at a very high level.

“We now have 46 points although we should have 48, and face challenges in La Liga and Europe, so we need all our players to compete at a high level in both competitions,” he maintained.
