JIM: Depor vital for Almeria

Juan Ignacio Martinez believes Almeria’s visit of Deportivo La Coruna in La Liga on Saturday will prove ‘vital’ in their fight against relegation.

The Andalucians return to League duties this weekend without a win in their last two matches, a run of results which have seen the side drop to 17th in the table – just a point clear of Levante, who occupy the last relegation place.

“It’s a great match, in which the three points will be vital for our fight [against relegation],” the Coach mused at a Press conference.

“There’s no need to add more pressure on ourselves [to win the match], but it’s clear we’d take a very important step forward in order to get the points.

"Beyond that, we have to play good football, compete as we’ve done recently and make Estadio los Juegos Mediterraneos a fortress.

“We must enjoy the game, knowing it’ll be exciting and that our opponents are much improved with the players who joined them in the winter and have given them quality.

“We need to be vigilant defensively because Deportivo have quality players, who had a very good game at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“We have to be very focused. They’re at a technical level, which allows them to carry the weight of the game and hit us on the break.

“The team who enter the game with the coolest heads will score many more goals.”
