Sanchez Flores resigns as Getafe Coach

Quique Sanchez Flores has left his post as Getafe Coach after less than two months in the job.

Super Deporte claims the departure is related to the decision to sell Sammir to Chinese side Jiangsu Sainty and the failure to add to the squad in January.

Sanchez Flores replaced Cosmin Contra, who was hired by Chinese outfit Guangzhou in a joint deal with midfielder Michel, which earned Getafe in the region of €5m.

Mundo Deportivo add that Sanchez Flores informed the club of his decision on Wednesday.

“I want to communicate my decision to step down as Coach of Getafe,” he said at a Press conference, AS reports.

“It’s a personal decision and vital to avoid repeating situations which haven’t made me happy. It’s the best choice and the best way to dignify my profession and self-respect.

“I would like to thank everyone, the sporting director, my staff, the club staff and the communication department for the special affection since I arrived.

“Especially the players, who have been exemplary in their behaviour and commitment, attitude, work and love for their profession.

“I also want to thank the fans, and thanks to Getafe for the two months I have spent as Coach.”
