Willy Caballero has admitted that he may be forced to consider his Manchester City future at the end of the season.
The veteran goalkeeper only joined the English champions last summer but has struggled for game time since his arrival, playing second fiddle to Joe Hart for most part of his Etihad career.
Speaking to the Spanish Press on Tuesday, ahead of City’s Champions League last-16 first leg against Barcelona, Caballero congratulated his former Malaga teammates on a job well done at Camp Nou.
“Malaga’s my home, the place where my dreams came true,” he was quoted as saying by AS.
“[My dreams] were none other than playing in Spain and then jumping to the Premier League.
“Since I joined Elche, things have gone well, very well I think. But I can never forget [the time] I spent with everyone at Malaga.
“It’s glorious to see [Malaga] stand up to the big teams and be able to conquer the Camp Nou. It’s almost impossible to describe such a stadium.
“To be honest, I was thrilled [when I saw them beat Barca]. I thought about the fans, the people who work at the club… It was a historic day for Malaga and everyone connected to the [club].
“Malaga have a [nice] mix of hungry, homegrown players and experienced ones. Everyone takes advantage of their opportunity.
“I am passionate about their work with youth players. They strongly push the youngsters and are now beginning to see the results.
“The best thing which can happen for Malaga is having a motivated goalkeeper.
“[Carlos Kameni] is sensational, knows what he should and shouldn’t do, and I’m glad for him in every way. He deserves all the best.
“[I’m not thinking about leaving City] at all. As I’ve said before, this is a dream come true.
“Until [the end of the season], my commitment [to City] is total. Then, we’ll see.”
