‘Barca watched Johnson at Sevilla’

There was a Barcelona scout at Sevilla’s win over Borussia Monchengladbach with Fabian Johnson the centre of attention.

Mundo Deportivo reports that Juan Carlos Rojo watched Los Rojiblancos beat the German side in the first leg of the Europa League tie, Vicente Iborra scoring the game’s only goal.

But it was United States international Johnson whom Rojo was there to see as Barca consider options to replace Dani Alves.

Barca will put together a list of players for Luis Enrique and the new technical commission to consider and Johnson, who has been watched for the past two years, including extensively at the World Cup, is a name on it.

Danilo, the Porto defender, is currently the No.1 target, but Johnson, Borussia Dortmund’s Lukasz Piszczek, and Paris Saint-Germain’s Serge Aurier are also in contention.

Alves’ contract at Camp Nou expires at the end of the season.
