‘CL a fresh start for Barca’

Jordi Alba believes Barcelona’s return to Champions League football is coming at a good time after the defeat to Malaga.

La Blaugrana were beaten at home after a Dani Alves error allowed Juanmi to score the game’s only goal and the left-back lamented the result after the match.

“Malaga played their game and were successful,” he said, Sport reports.

“We complained about time wasting but the referee didn’t give us much attention. But we can’t be preoccupied with that.

“We can’t beat around the bush. I’m the first to be angered [by the defeat] but we have to follow the line we were on. The League is difficult but nothing’s decided.

“It wasn’t our day but it shouldn’t affect [Tuesday’s game against Manchester City]. If we lose, it’s not an excuse.

“This is another game, another competition, and it gives us the chance for a fresh start.”
