Berizzo: Derby was intense!

Eduardo Berizzo was happy with Celta Vigo’s Galician derby win over Deportivo La Coruna and reflected on an ‘intense’ game.

Goals from Charles and Joaqin Larrivey gave Celta victory at Riazor, with Deportivo down to 10 men for the last 20 minutes when Alberto Lopo was dismissed.

Deportivo had their fair share of chances but Berizzo told reporters after the match that he was pleased to return home with three points.

“It was a very intense game, with many emotions,” he admitted, AS reports.

“It wasn’t a normal game and that was seen with mistakes by both sides until we started to dominate after 10 minutes.

“There were situations we didn’t do well with but the goal settled us down. We were lucky not to concede an equaliser and then the team played with great craft. We played when we could and if we couldn’t, we did our job.

“Winning a derby is synonymous with satisfaction but we’re respectful of our opponent. It’s easy to talk when you win. I don’t want to hear demagoguery. It was a good game to watch for everyone.”
