Nuno: Can’t win without suffering

Valencia Coach Nuno Santo wasn’t concerned by the hard time his side had at Cordoba and paid tribute to the fans for the win.

Los Che needed a late goal from Pablo Piatti to see off La Liga’s bottom side after Andre Gomes’ opener was cancelled out by a Nabil Ghilas penalty.

“I liked our reaction. We knew how to manage the game,” Nuno told reporters when asked about the response to Cordoba’s equaliser.

“We controlled the first half without creating much. We tried to go for the second goal but we made a mistake. We have to be more practical.

“But there is no victory without suffering in this League. That will never happen. Cordoba are a competitive team and we knew we had to match their aggression at a difficult place to play.

“I want to say a few words about the 500 Valencia fans who came here and supported us unconditionally. This victory is for them.

“It’s now time to rest and recover and think about Real Sociedad.”
