Berizzo: Derby is special

Eduardo Berizzo is prepared for a special game when Celta Vigo meet Deportivo La Coruna in the Galician derby.

Berizzo told his pre-match Press conference that he finds fault with the attitude that the local skirmish is just another game, acknowledging what it means for the supporters.

“Playing a derby is special. I don’t agree that it’s another game and three points. It’s a game that means a lot to the fans, and the club is its fans and the players play for the fans,” he said, AS reports.

“I understood the importance of this game as a player and I understand as a Coach. It’s a very important match for our fans and will be for the players.

“We have to build on what we did against Atletico Madrid in the use of the ball and not forget we have to press and get the ball against a team that uses it well.

“Playing away from home, where the environment will be against us, will test the personality and character of the players. It will be a challenge for us.

“They’re a team with fast and skilful wingers, a great striker and playmaker who has found goals in the position. They’re an organised team.”

Berizzo also revealed why he has taken the squad’s injured players for the trip to A Coruna, explaining it was related to the importance of the match.

“It’s good to be together because they will play an emotionally important game and I like that all the players are involved. It’s good that everyone travels,” he added.
