Atletico Madrid and Diego Simeone have opened talks over a new contract that would keep the Coach at the club until 2020.
Cholo’s current deal expires in 2017, AS reports, and the champions are keen to extend it so he will be on the bench for the duration of Miguel Angel Gil’s five-year project.
Gil has recently returned from China and one of his first orders of business was to meet with Natalia Simeone, the boss’ sister and representative.
It’s expected Simeone will agree to a new contract and with both parties content, there’s no rush to get a signature on paper.
Simeone is understood to be happy at Vicente Calderon and is involved in planning for the future with the sporting director and other departments.
