Wenger on Cazorla-Atleti rumours

Arsene Wenger has dismissed speculation linking Arsenal’s Spanish star Santi Cazorla with a summer transfer to Atletico Madrid.

Los Colchoneros had been tipped to make a bid for the former Villarreal and Malaga midfielder once the market reopened in July, but the Frenchman insists the 30-year-old will be going nowhere.

“I think he has still two years to go,” the long-serving manager was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

“You know our policy at the club, so I don't think there's anything special to worry about there.

“The suggestion [of a transfer bid] is only a suggestion. We have never been approached by anybody about him. I don't think there's anything to worry about.

“Since he has moved centrally, his influence is bigger.”

Cazorla has enjoyed an impressive season with the Gunners to date, winning the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month award for December and January in England.
