‘Staying up still Celta’s target’

Nolito, scorer of a penalty in Celta Vigo’s win over Atletico Madrid, has said avoiding relegation remains the goal of the team.

Celta beat the champions 2-0, with Fabian Orellana rounding off the victory, and after the match Nolito spoke to reporters about the contest and the season.

“The team did a good job in defence and attack. We played a great game against the champions,” he said, according to AS.

“Atletico have a great team but I must thank my teammates for the game we’ve played.

“This is football. There are ups and downs throughout the season. You can’t be 40 games at the same level. There are four months of the season left and we want to get to 40 points early, which is our goal, to ensure our safety.

“Atletico don’t need to do a lot to score a goal but we were the better team. We ran a lot. They have a great team and remember, they are League champions ahead of Barcelona and Real Madrid.”
