‘Villarreal one of the best’

Rayo Vallecano Coach Paco Jemez believes his side are facing one of the best teams in La Liga in Sunday’s opponents, Villarreal.

Jemez praised the Yellow Submarine at his pre-match Press conference, highlighting their ability on the counter-attack, as well as their solid organisation.

“Villarreal are a great team, in all aspects, especially with their speed in attack,” he said, according to Marca.

“They are the team with the most speed in three-quarters of the pitch and they also know how to play the game well.

“They’re a team that can play in combinations as needed and know how to be together defensively, as they showed against Barcelona, but then are able to break with tremendous speed.

“We have to try to be vigilant and not lose balls where they can create danger and attack areas of our defence.”

Rayo are in a run of poor form and Jemez called for the players to arrest the slide in front of their supporters.

“We want a win for our fans, but also for ourselves. We work hard, every day, and we want the people that come to see us to have a good time,” he said.

“There are 38 matches. We have been in calm situations but we’ve lost three games and the gap [to the relegation places] has been reduced.

“The message is that our last two games have lacked courage and the mentality of wanting to do things. If fail we have few options.”
