Ancelotti addresses fickle Madrid fans

Carlo Ancelotti acknowledged the fickle nature of Real Madrid fans after the victory over Deportivo La Coruna but ultimately praised their commitment.

Los Blancos headed into Saturday’s encounter with the Galicians in La Liga on the back of a heavy defeat to arch-rivals Atletico Madrid last weekend but returned to winning ways courtesy of a 2-0 success at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“The whistles [directed] towards me and the team are normal. It’s frustrating for everyone to lose a derby 4-0,” the Coach said after the game.

“We understood that it was necessary to win for our fans. We must congratulate the fans. It’s difficult to support the team when things go wrong. The team are grateful.

“The whistles [directed towards Iker] Casillas? As always, they were [whistles] at first and then they disappeared. The match ended with applause [for Casillas’ performance].

“It wasn’t an easy match. We played only partly good and had difficulties. It’s been a particularly delicate, complicated week, but we came out of it with a victory.

“[On Saturday] we did what we’d always done to an extent. A few things concerned me, but everything went well [in the end].

“The fans helped us and understood that the moment had passed the team. They’ve helped us get through this [bad patch].”
