David Moyes is a contender to replace Paul Lambert as Aston Villa manager, it has been claimed, only a few months into his Real Sociedad deal.
Moyes took over at Anoeta in November following the departure of Jagoba Arrasate, but Sport reports he is on the shortlist for the Villa Park vacancy.
Lambert was sacked after the Midlands club fell into the Premier League’s bottom three by virtue of a defeat at Hull City.
It’s understood Villa want an appointment within two weeks and Moyes’ name is alongside that of Tim Sherwood, Glenn Hoddle and Michael Laudrup.
The feeling that Moyes hasn’t yet settled in Spain or at La Real could push Villa towards an approach, offering Moyes the chance to rehabilitate himself in England after his aborted spell at Manchester United.
Moyes’ contract in San Sebastian runs until the summer of 2016.
