Pepe was able to take part in Madrid training on Thursday and is in line for a return against Schalke in the Champions League.
AS reports the defender, who has been missing since January 15, when he suffered bruising to the ribs against Atletico Madrid, will not be considered for the weekend’s game against Deportivo La Coruna.
But the Portugal international could be involved against the Bundesliga club when European football resumes next week.
Madrid are holding back Pepe for fear of a recurrence of the injury should he return to the fray too soon.
