Jemez: I didn’t sign Miku

Paco Jemez has decided not to include January signing Miku in the Rayo Vallecano squad to play Elche on Monday night, noting he wasn’t involved in the transfer.

Miku was Rayo’s only addition in the transfer window but Jemez gave short shrift to questions of the Venezuelan’s involvement in Week 22 or why he was brought to Vallecas.

“If you want to know about Miku, ask the sporting director,” Jemez said at a Press conference, according to AS.

“I have nothing do with the signing. I train him, I will try to integrate him into the group, but I should tell you the sporting director was the one who signed him.

“Miku is a signing of the sporting director with a view to the future. There are players who have joined and looked good.

“I understand that the Coach always has to coach but maybe Miku is more a future option and [the sporting director] doesn’t have to share his decision with anyone.

“I was told he was coming but he is a signing by the club. I am delighted with Miku’s attitude and he is another option. We have a lot of forwards but it never hurts to have another option. If he proves to be better than those here, he will play.”

Miku, formerly of Getafe, Valencia and a host of other Spanish teams, joined after a year with Qatar side Al-Gharafa. He has also had time on loan at Celtic.
