Sergio Ramos faces up to six weeks on the sidelines after he tore his left hamstring during Real Madrid’s 2-1 victory over Sevilla on Wednesday.

The defender was expected to miss only three weeks of action, but tests on Friday have confirmed his setback to be worse than initially thought.

Reports in Spain suggest that Ramos will miss Los Blancos’ next six League matches and both legs of their Champions League last-16 tie with Schalke but should mark his comeback against Barcelona.

Ramos has been plagued with fitness problems all season and joins James Rodriguez and Luka Modric in missing out on Saturday’s short trip to Atletico Madrid due to injury.

The news comes after Spain’s Administrative Court for Sport (TAD) upheld Marcelo’s one-match ban for five yellow cards, which was activated against Sevilla, rendering him ineligible this weekend.
