Reus plays down talk of Barca switch

Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder Marco Reus has downplayed suggestions he might be joining Barcelona.

The Germany international has been repeatedly linked with a move to the Camp Nou and Mundo Deportivo claims the Catalans have been in recent contact with the player about making the switch to La Liga.

However, the 25-year-old is quoted as questioning what role he would occupy at a club containing so many superstars.

“Where would I play at a club where the attack is made up of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar?” he asked.

An additional problem is that Barca are banned from signing players until January next year and Reus would be forced to wait, despite him having a €25m release clause in a contract that expires this summer.

Any deal would mean the player either remaining at Dortmund and agreeing to move to Barcelona in January, joining another club in the meantime, or signing for Barca and just training with them rather than playing.
