Neymar: ‘Messi and I getting better’

Neymar believes his strike partnership with Lionel Messi at Barcelona is getting better all the time.

Speaking at a promotional event in Qatar, the Brazilian touched upon the team’s excellent performances of late as well as his own good form.

“I feel very happy. It’s been easy to play alongside Leo and he is one of my heroes. Our understanding on the pitch just keeps getting better and better,” said Neymar.

Neymar and Messi have made an impressive start to 2015, the Argentine bagging nine goals so far, one more than his striking partner, while in 12 of the 22 games the pair have played together this season they have both made it onto the scoresheet.

Messi has now notched a total of 23 goals this term – a figure only bettered at this stage by the 40 he claimed in the 2012-13 campaign – and is La Liga’s second top scorer with 22, six behind Cristiano Ronaldo.

In his 26 games played, Neymar has been on target 22 times, beating last season’s total of 15 in 41 outings, while he sits in third spot in the leading goalscorers’ table.
