Nuno slams Valencia critics

Valencia boss Nuno Espirito Santo has slammed critics of his team’s inconsistent away form this season.

Los Che have taken 13 points from a possible 30 on their travels – as opposed to 28 from 33 at Mestalla – with the most recent disappointment coming in the 1-0 loss to Malaga at La Rosaleda on Monday night.

As a result, the Portuguese had a 10-minute chat with his players before training at Paterna on Wednesday evening, while afterwards he could not disguise his frustration when speaking to assembled reporters.

“I’m not worried about all the rubbish they keep throwing at me,” Nuno was quoted as saying by Marca.

“At Malaga we began well but they managed to beat us. Did we play well? No. Did we play badly? No. Were they better than us? No.

“Now the important thing is to continue working. We must remain strong and win away from home.”

Valencia take on Espanyol at the Power8 Stadium this Sunday, having slipped to fifth in the table.
