Ernesto Valverde feels Athletic Bilbao’s 2-0 win at Levante on Sunday has given his players the momentum they need.
Aritz Aduriz claimed a second-half brace at the Ciutat de Valencia to move the Basques into mid-table and Valverde insisted it will prove a turning point for the remainder of the season.
“We are hoping this victory will change things because we’ve been searching for consistency for a while,” he told reporters post-match.
“The windy conditions didn’t help either side and Levante put us under a lot of pressure early on.
“[Iker] Muniain went close for us in the first half but they gave us some problems at the back and particularly down the right wing.
“We switched [Oscar] De Marcos and [Andoni] Iraola so that allowed us to control the game a little better, while Aduriz made a massive contribution and he is a very important player for us.”
