Bergara praises ‘honourable’ Madrid

Markel Bergara has praised Real Madrid for holding a minute’s silence before Real Sociedad's 4-1 defeat at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The midfielder paid tribute to the European champions, who agreed to show their respect for a La Real fan who tragically died in a car accident on his way down from San Sebastian for the game.

“On behalf of the club and all the players I’d like to say we lend our full support to the supporter’s family at this time,” Bergara told a Press conference.

“This is terrible news and it is a tragedy that someone who is coming along to support us could suffer something like this.

“We are all very sad. Both Real Sociedad and Real Madrid handled the matter honourably and the respect Madrid showed towards us and our fans was something to be admired. We are all grateful."
