Neymar & Busquets set for new deals?

Barcelona have been handed a boost with reports that both Neymar and Sergio Busquets are set to sign new contracts.

According to Sport, the Brazilian forward has agreed a new deal in principle until 2020 worth €12m a year, putting him on par with Luis Suarez and just behind Lionel Messi.

Neymar’s current deal expires in three years’ time, but Barca feel indebted to the 22-year-old, who reportedly rejected a bigger salary at Real Madrid, and are keen to reward his development.

“We have a proposal to extend Neymar’s contract with Barca until 2020. The player is happy at the club and the club are happy with the player. The relationship is magnificent,” his agent Wagner Ribeiro said in December.

Neymar, a €57m arrival from Santos in the summer of 2013, has scored 21 goals this season, and the Catalans are adamant that he will soon succeed Messi as the world’s best player.

Meanwhile, Sergio Busquets is likely to join the attacker in renewing his terms with the Camp Nou giants for another two years.

Mundo Deportivo reports that the club regard the defensive midfielder as indispensable and will offer him an extension until 2020, increasing his buy-out threshold to €150m.

Busquets, son of former Barca goalkeeper Carles, has become integral to the side’s plans and inherited the No 5 jersey from legendary defender Carles Puyol in August.
