Berizzo unfazed by Celta silence

Eduardo Berizzo insists he is not concerned by speculation about his future ahead of Celta Vigo-Cordoba on Saturday. “I don’t need anyone’s support.”

The Galicians have not won a match in La Liga since their shock 1-0 victory at Barcelona on November 1, and the club’s President Carlos Mourino has failed to offer the under-fire Coach a vote of confidence.

“We know the importance of this game and that we must go out and play with courage, determination and firmness,” the Argentine told reporters at a Press conference.

“We need to win, and Saturday night’s a great opportunity for us. We’ve put all our energy into this game because we’re facing a team competing for the same objectives as us.

“I’m fine and focused on the game. Football has these situations and you have to deal with them. I just focus on my work, I don’t need anyone’s support.

“The most important thing is that the team win on Saturday. My future is no more important [than Celta’s next match].

“We must erase our memories of Monday [against Getafe]. Cordoba are different from the first half of the season, with new players and tactics.

“In addition, they now have another dynamic. They’ll be tough opponents, but we must beat them in order to halt our losing streak and because they’re direct rivals of ours.”
