Marcelino confident for Getafe clash

Villarreal boss Marcelino says he remains confident ahead of the Copa del Rey quarter-final second leg clash with Getafe.

The Yellow Submarine lead 1-0 from the first leg at El Madrigal and go into Thursday’s game at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez in good spirits, although Marcelino is at pains to point out that nothing has been resolved yet.

“I’m looking at this tie positively because our opponents will need to score twice to overcome us, but it’s not done and dusted,” he told a Press conference.

“We’ll have to work and respect the opposition, who are on an upward spiral, so it will be very difficult.

“We must try and play a great game and remain strong, be forceful, and not give anything away in order to progress.”

Marcelino admitted he will make changes to his normal first choice starting XI, although not too many.

“We’ll make changes, perhaps not seven or eight, but there will be a few. There are some positions we don’t have replacements for because of injury, but where we can rotate we will, particularly in midfield and attack.”

Winger Joel Campbell, who was brought in on loan from Arsenal this week, could be in line to make his Villarreal debut.

“Campbell is in the squad and ready to play. He’ll either get a few minutes or be included from the start.

“He’ll gradually adapt and get to know our system better and his teammates will make that easier, although our play is well suited to his characteristics.

“We will see the player’s performances progressively improve,” he added.
