Manchester City and Arsenal are prepared to slug it out in the final days of the transfer window for Mario Mandzukic.
The Croatian striker moved from Bayern Munich to Atletico Madrid last summer for a reported €22m, but the arrival of Fernando Torres at the Vicente Calderon and Antoine Griezmann’s stunning recent form has seen him fall slightly down the pecking order.
Reports in Spain have it that Atleti may be inclined to offload the 28-year-old should they receive a decent offer, while City are understood to be willing to pay around €30m for the player despite having already signed Wilfried Bony from Swansea City.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are also monitoring the situation and will decide in the next couple of days whether to match City’s valuation of the former Wolfsburg man.
