Madrid plotting David Luiz bid?

Real Madrid are planning a dramatic swoop for Paris Saint-Germain defender David Luiz this summer, according to reports in France.

Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti, who is understood to be looking to replace 31-year-old Pepe at the heart of his defence, is eager to bring in a ball-playing centre-back to complement Sergio Ramos.

As a result, he is weighing up a €60m bid for the Brazilian, who he is familiar with from their time together at Chelsea.

If successful, reports the Daily Express, it would pave the way for Chelsea to table an offer for Madrid defender Raphael Varane, who is believed look favourably on linking up again with Jose Mourinho, his former boss at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Portuguese is a keen admirer of the French international and is watching the situation with interest, while Manchester United are also rumoured to be keen on Varane.
