Nuno hails “complete” Valencia

Nuno Espirito Santo felt his Valencia side produced a “complete” performance in the 3-1 victory over Sevilla at Mestalla on Sunday.

A brace of goals from Dani Parejo helped Los Che defeat their rivals for a Champions League place in a lively encounter that saw three penalties awarded.

Parejo gave Valencia the lead from the spot on 19 minutes and doubled the advantage on the half-hour mark, sliding a low shot past Sevilla goalkeeper Beto.

However, the same player then gave Sevilla a route back into the match in the 36th minute when he tripped Alvaro Negredo in the area and Carlos Bacca made no mistake from the resulting penalty.

Sevilla were awarded another penalty five minutes later but Bacca was denied as Valencia stopper Diego Alves saved with his legs, but Javi Fuego made sure of all three points just before the hour mark with a fierce shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.

“We played a very complete game at all levels, although maybe not so much in the first half when we gave away too much possession,” Nuno told a post-match Press conference.

“In the second I’d say we might have scored more goals and with the chances we had we could have been talking about a different result.

“Sevilla were ahead of us in the table and have some very good players as well as a good Coach, so to beat them fills us with pride.

“In the first half we could have lost concentration but managed to stay calm and the referee was not on our minds,” he maintained.

The win saw Valencia move ahead of Unai Emery's side and into fourth spot in La Primera.
