Marc Bartra has warned Barcelona that they cannot afford to take their foot off the pedal at this stage of the season.
The Catalans remain hot on the trail of Real Madrid atop La Liga and have now won five straight matches thanks to Saturday’s 6-0 victory at Elche, but the defender insists his side must continue focusing on themselves.
“We’re very pleased [with the win], it wasn’t easy and it never is away from home,” he said after the game.
“We’re in a good [run of form], we want to continue on this path and can’t relax.
“Madrid had been on the verge of collapsing, but we can only follow our own progress. If we do that, we’ll be fine.
“It will be a tough game at a very complicated stadium [referring to the second leg of Barca’s Copa del Rey quarter-final with Atletico Madrid].
“[Neymar’s] doing fine. He’s a phenomenon, and Leo [Messi] is also doing very well. Those two being at their current level is very good for the team.”
