Valencia are ready to offer Jose Luis Gaya a new contract, amid fears of losing him to a bigger club.
The 19-year-old has enjoyed a breakthrough season at Mestalla since succeeding Juan Bernat at left-back, missing just one La Liga match all season through suspension.
However, AS reports Los Che are keen to fend off interest from Manchester City, given that Gaya is currently on B-team terms and can be bought out for €18m.
“I’m calm, I’m in good hands and have a three-year contract,” the young defender told the newspaper.
“Discussing my renewal is a sign that things are going well for me, so I’ll keep doing what I’m doing.”
Negotiations are expected to commence once Valencia have thrashed out a renewal for Paco Alcacer, who is also represented by Toldra Consulting.
