Resino up for Granada challenge

New Granada boss Abel Resino says he is ready to meet the challenge of keeping the club in La Primera head-on.

The 54-year-old returned to the club on Monday for a second spell in charge, replacing the axed Joaquin Caparros with the Andalusians bottom of the table, and says he would not have come back if he did not think they would stay up.

“If I wasn’t convinced there was a possibility of saving the club and making it difficult for our opponents then I wouldn’t have accepted the challenge,” he told a Press conference.

“It’s not normal to go 15 games without a win and that’s something we’ll have to change. Right now the players are down and that’s only to be expected considering the poor run of results they’ve had.

“It’s something that happens when players are under pressure, something that will cease to exist when we get our next win.

“Although I’d have liked to have time to prepare for the next game [against Deportivo la Coruna] we will have to do things quickly, study our opponents, and go all out for the win.

“I’ve watched Granada a lot this season and I believe the players can adapt to my style of play because many of them have that profile.

“But the fans can rest assured we will be doing everything we can – by hook or by crook – so hopefully we’ll get it right and enjoy next season in the top flight,” he concluded.
