Ancelotti considering Verratti swoop

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is weighing up a move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti this summer.

According to Marca, the Italian has already indicated to the club’s hierarchy that he would like the diminutive 22-year-old on board before the start of next season, while the player is also understood to be open to a move to the Spanish capital.

Ancelotti has been linked several times with Juventus’ Paul Pogba despite the player believed to prefer to listen to offers from England, meaning he will turn to Verratti, a player he knows well from his days with PSG.

However, Madrid’s priorities also include Marco Reus and David de Gea, with any deal for Verratti having to be put on the back burner until Ancelotti knows the pair’s intentions over the coming months.

Verratti, who has represented Italy 10 times, joined the Ligue 1 side from hometown club Pescara in July 2013 for a reported €12m.
