Sergio: Espanyol got their reward

Sergio Gonzalez believes his Espanyol side were rewarded for their persistence with Felipe Caicedo’s late winner against Celta Vigo.

Caicedo netted in the final moments of the match and the Coach told reporters after the game that it was a deserved outcome.

“This team fights until the last moment. It shows how much the players live the game,” Sergio said, Marca reports.

“Although it was late we got our reward. But the game was even and we were the ones feeling in danger.

“Nolito is dangerous and Joaquin Larrivey gets a lot of the ball. But Kiko Casilla was very good and showed what a great goalkeeper he is.

“[In Sergio Garcia, Christian Stuani and Caicedo] we have an extraordinary attack. It’s a luxury for the team and for me. They are synonymous with goals.

“This has been a great week and we’ve taken a step forward. I’m happy for the players. The fans got us into the game.

“We’ve never been without a good dynamic. The fans need to stay grounded, although our performances have been balanced.”
